Introduction to Giclees |
|||
A giclee print (pronounced zhee-clay) is the most vibrant, most true-to-the-original reproduction method available today. This advanced technology utilizes a spray technique whereby archival quality inks are transferred from high-resolution digital scans to watereolor paper or canvas. The process provides an extremely accurate color rendering. One of the most important factors with giclees is that they can be reduced or enlarged to fit any decor from miniatures to 5000% enlargements without sacrificing any quality! Thus we now have the extraordinary capability of custom sizing never possible before. For pricing, allow approximately $100.00 per square foot for the print, whether on canvas or paper. For really large giclees we recommend that they be printed on canvas so there's no reflection or glare problem when framed and hanging. We have the surface varnished for protection. The artwork should be treated just as you would an original — use museum quality framing and components. Protect it from ultraviolet rays (sunlight and fluorescent light), rapid temperature changes, moisture, or other harmful conditions, and your giclee should last indefinitely. |
